RIVA is seeking an innovative and highly experienced Sr Systems Engineer to support the Department of Commerce (DOC). The ideal candidate will be responsible for systems architecture, integration, maintenance, and optimization across multiple classified IT environments.
Key Responsibilities include:
Design, implement, and manage secure, scalable IT system architectures supporting classified environments.
Manage and monitor all installed systems, ensuring highest levels of availability, security, and performance.
Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with RMF, NIST, and CNSS policies.
Provide technical leadership for projects involving virtualization, storage, networking, and enterprise services.
Administer Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, document management systems, and virtualization platforms.
Implement and maintain disaster recovery strategies, backup operations, and business continuity plans.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex system, network, and application issues.
Perform system maintenance activities including patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and security hardening.
Document system architecture, configurations, processes, and SOPs.
Support planning, design, and implementation of new infrastructure and cloud transition initiatives.
Participate in change control, incident response, and configuration management activities.
Conduct system audits, security testing, and provide recommendations for improvements.
Coordinate engineering reviews and collaborate with stakeholders, users, and development contractors.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 8+ years of systems engineering experience supporting complex enterprise environments.
Proficient in virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware), Windows Server administration, Active Directory, and enterprise storage solutions.
Strong knowledge of IT system security standards including DISA STIGs, RMF, and NIST 800-53.
Hands-on experience with networked systems and troubleshooting protocols.
Ability to lead system integration efforts, project initiatives, and multi-disciplinary teams.
Must have an active Top Secret / SCI clearance.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Experience supporting Department of Commerce (DOC) or other federal agencies.
Familiarity with cloud environments and hybrid architectures.
Industry certifications such as Security+, CISSP, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or VMware Certified Professional (VCP) are preferred but not required.
Salary: Max up to $135,000 a year, based on experience
