Position Overview:

Perform satellite Command and Control (C2) of military satellite systems for the 10th Space Operations Squadron (10 SOPS). The Satellite Operator Specialist will report directly to the Operations Lead as the Shift Lead while on shift duties in the Satellite Operations Center (SOC). Must be qualified to perform all job requirements of a Satellite Systems Operator (SSO), and in addition must possess advanced knowledge, skills, and leadership required to perform real-time spacecraft commanding and data capture activities for assigned satellite contacts as well as shift lead responsibilities. The SOC is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including weekends and holidays, and the Satellite Operator Specialist will support rotating 8-hour shifts.

 Primary Responsibilities:

• Assigns workflow appropriately to Satellite Systems Operators (SSOs) during shift
• Perform Mission Planning and Scheduling activities to ensure satellite contacts are met
• Monitor payload performance including science instruments and any instrument support subsystems during real-time operations
• Ensure ground systems network assets are available, functioning and configured to support mission requirements
• Record mission anomalies and prepare reports to inform 10 SOPS management of current readiness of the ground system and all on-orbit system
• Performs Record keeping and documentation report requirements
• Assist trainees and SSOs with on the job training (OJT)
• Participate in mock scenarios for qualification preparation of trainees
• Responsible for updating or creating 10 SOPS operational checklists and deliverables

Required Skills/Qualifications:

• Experienced with military Satellite Operations
• Command and Control of a Satellite Constellation
• Legacy systems and Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) training qualified 
• Satellite Systems Operator (SSO) certified

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

• Experienced with military Satellite Operations
• Experienced with Command and Control of a Satellite Constellation
• Completed Performance Qualification Standards (PQS) or Master Task Lists (MTLs) training on Legacy and MUOS systems for 10 SOPS

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree or related work experience in lieu of degree; 2-10 years’ experience performing military satellite operations. 

Travel: Occasional travel to support 10 SOPS satellite operations

Location: Point Mugu, CA

Clearance Requirement: Secret (Active) / Top Secret (Desired)
